How to create a price calculator for a website: the short answer
To create a price calculator for a website, build a short form in a calculator builder, give each answer a number, write one formula that combines them and paste the builder's embed code into your page. In involve.me this needs the Start plan: $29 a month, charged annually, as read on 3 October 2026, or $49 a month, billed monthly.
The same nine steps show how to make a quote calculator, how to build a cost calculator and how to add a calculator to a website; only the label on the result changes. You need three things first.
- An involve.me account. Sign-up starts on the Free plan with no card. Calculators are a paid feature: on the involve.me free plan a funnel that uses one goes live as a watermarked test version and stops at 10 submissions.
- Your rate card: the fixed fee, unit rates, extras and any minimum charge.
- Edit access to a page on your site that accepts an HTML or code block.

- Create a funnel from scratch, with AI or from a template such as Price Quote Generator, and choose the Thank You page type, which ends on one result page. The type locks once the funnel is published; changing it later means duplicating the funnel and publishing the copy.
- Add the questions: sliders for quantities, dropdowns or single-choice questions for options.
- On each choice, dropdown or number question turn on "Answer is Required"; sliders need no extra setting. On choice and dropdown questions also turn on "Individual Score & Calculation" and type a number in each answer's VALUE field.
- Drag a Price Calculator element onto the page where the price should appear and click "Open Formula Builder".
- Click questions in the list on the left to add them to the formula, and type the operators: +, -, *, /, ^ and brackets. IF, MAX, ROUND and VLOOKUP are available from Start.
- Switch the builder from Build to Test, choose answers and compare the result with a price you worked out by hand.
- Add a contact form page directly before the result page, so the price shows only after the visitor leaves details.
- Open Settings, find the Email section and tick "Receive an email for every submission". A funnel takes up to 5 recipients; on Start they must be team members of the account, and Start has 1 user.
- Click Publish, review the Configure page and publish. On the Share screen click "Get Embed Code", then "Copy code", and paste it into an HTML block on your page.
That last step is how you add a calculator to a website. involve.me advises against writing your own iframe tag, offers a WordPress plugin and, on Squarespace, needs the Code block. Publishing starts saving submission data, so finish testing in draft. Changing the funnel's URL breaks the old link, and the embed code must be replaced. Run the checks in our involve.me embed guide before sending traffic.
Worked example: how to build a cost calculator for pressure washing
Here is how to build a cost calculator for a pressure washing firm. The rates are examples: an $80 visit fee, 15 cents a square foot, 10% off above 2,000 square feet and optional sealing at $120.
| Area (Q1, slider) | Sealing (Q2: yes 120, no 0) | Working | Price shown |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1,500 sq ft | No | 80 + 225 | $305 |
| 2,000 sq ft | No | 80 + 300 | $380 |
| 2,001 sq ft | No | (80 + 300.15) times 0.9 | $342 |
| 2,400 sq ft | Yes | (80 + 360) times 0.9, plus 120 | $516 |
The second and third rows show a flaw to catch in test mode: one extra square foot drops the price from $380 to $342, because the discount applies to the whole job. Discounting only the area above 2,000 square feet removes the drop. A list of quote calculator test cases should include both sides of every threshold.
Room-based and area-based versions are worked through on our cleaning business quote calculator and landscaping quote calculator pages.
A mistake to avoid: a blank answer counts as 1 when multiplied
involve.me's help center states that an unanswered question is treated as 0 in addition and subtraction and as 1 in multiplication and division. An optional quantity multiplied by a rate therefore returns the rate itself, not zero. Either require the answer or wrap it: IF(ANSWERED(Q3),Q3,0).
A calculator updates only while its own page is loaded, so place it on the same page as the last question it uses or on a later one.
When a paid calculator tool is worth it: involve.me against three free plans
A paid tool is worth it when the calculator must also capture the lead, email the result and alert you. involve.me includes those from Start. A free plan is enough for one estimate on a low-traffic page.
| Tool and plan | Price | Main limit |
|---|---|---|
| involve.me Start | $29 a month, charged annually; $49 a month, billed monthly | 3 live funnels, 1 user, embed on 1 website; involve.me watermark until Grow |
| Fillout Free | $0 a month | 1,000 responses a month; Fillout badge shown |
| Calconic Free | $0 | 5 active calculators; 500 impressions a month |
| ConvertCalculator Starter | $0 a month | 100 visits a month; calculators are disabled 2 days after you pass the monthly visit limit |
involve.me refunds a paid period that has started only pro rata, after a prolonged technical failure or where the law requires it (terms on our involve.me pricing page). Its 14-day paid-plan trial asks for billing details, so build and check the calculator on the Free plan first.
